A little set back yesterday. Damn nausea kept me down most of the day. I just laid around and groaned.

We squashed up a Tagament and that helped. Once the swelling started to go down I discovered a weird bump on my lower right jaw. Conversations with Mom-nurse-doctor-nurse-Mom finally communicated the problem. Possible infection. This might also have been causing the nausea. So now I’m taking penicillin. Since the Tylenol might also cause the stomach issues I’m switching between that and children’s ibuprofen. At least it tastes a little better, grape… yum. I managed to get down a little apple-pear juice, some banana baby food and for dinner butternut squash soup. So far, I’ve lost somewhere between 3 and 7 pounds. I can’t really tell with Pete’s scale.

Slept pretty good last night. I’m still sleeping propped up. I can lay on my side a little now, but still can’t sleep long that way. My lower lip down past my chin is still numb. Every now and then it feels like it’s trying to come back, like minor pins and needles. It isn’t uncomfortable, but it does interfere with being able to talk. My lower face still feels tight from the swelling. Looking in the mirror, I have high hopes for the chin. But I don't think it's really going to look that different; kind'a like a good haircut, good but not too noticeable. Brian, Chris and Mom seem to understand most of what I say. Pete has a little more trouble. Of course we’re not discussing world peace or the recall vote. Our discussions consist of mostly, “I’m hungry”, “good”, “no”, “yes”, “hand me the scrabble game”. I’ll be a champ at charades before this is over.

I’ve finally finished "The Secret Lives of Bees". It got much better towards the middle. It might be because of the discussions of Mary and the rosary. It takes just about the same amount of time for the Tylenol to take affect as it does to pray the rosary. I was grateful to have something to concentrate on while waiting. I also read "The #1 Ladies Detective Agency". Very cute story, Pete even enjoyed it. I’m starting one Chris gave me for my birthday, Bad Chili. The first chapter was hilarious. A couple of guys are out shooting at tin cans and get attacked by a rabid squirrel. One of the guys is a gay black man who just got fired from his bar bouncer job. Looking forward to how this one evolves.

Watching a lot of TV too. "Windtalkers" was a disappointment. I don’t know why I think I like Nicolas Cage. I think I only liked him when he played John Travolta in "Face Off". So maybe I really only like John Travolta and not Nicolas Cage. Also watched "Singing in the Rain" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Thank goodness for cable, I haven’t had to watch a single soap opera or talk show. I have caught a few episodes of Buffy, Perry Mason and Leave it to Beaver. Ahhh daytime TV can be so enriching. Come on Netflicks! "Ronin" and "Permission" are on the way. Maybe some Citizen Kane and Singing in the Rain extras this afternoon.
